Nkinga Referral Hospital started as Dispensary back in 1936 and was registered to full hospital in 1960. It was established by SwedishMissionaries Rev. Erland Jonson and his Wife Ester. The hospital is a Grant Aided Voluntary Agency. InNovember 2010 was promoted to Referral Hospital Level. The hospital is one of the healthcare institutions run under the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT). It is located in Igunga District,Tabora Region and can road through Singida - Nzega road from Dodoma or the same road in the opposite direction from Nzegea to Singida by diverging from tarmac road at Ziba, 21 kilometers south of Ziba that is where NKinga Referral hospital is located.see www.fpcthealthdepartment.org.

Location of the Hospital and Capacity
Nkinga Mission Hospital is one of the Faith Based Hospitals in Tanzania; it is located in the remote rural area of Igunga District, Tabora region. It became a hospital in 1960.The hospital has a bed capacity of 205 beds and attends an average of 82,000 outpatients with an average of 13,000 inpatients per year. The hospital service area has an estimated population of 2.5 million. The hospital works as unofficial referral point in the western zone especially for Orthopaedic surgeries and Obstetrics & Gynaecology services including Vesico-vaginal fistula (VVF) and Rectal-vaginal fistula (RVF) repair surgeries.
There are plans to develop the Hospital to become a referral Hospital serving the Western Zone especially for Orthopedic surgeries and expand its Nursing and Laboratory Schools into Health Sciences University. The talks are underway with respective organizations responsible for each need.
The hospital organization hierarchy starts with The Hospital Board which has 15 members and meets every three months. The main Hospital Board function is to discuss and endorse or reject plan of activities, hospital projects and programmers tabled before it.
The hospital management team which meets every month has 9 members; it is responsible for the day to day hospital activities. The Medical Officer In charge is the chairperson of the hospital management team. The hospital clinical services are divided into departments namely, Dental Therapy; Obstetrics & Gynecology; Surgical, Medical; Pediatrics; Reproductive and Child
The hospital has four departments i.e, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgical and Obstetrics & Gynecology departments with a total bed capacity of 205 beds, of which 60 are in surgical ward, another 60 in medical ward, 50 in Pediatrics ward and 35 in maternity ward, (Obstetrics & Gynecology) and has a theater with four major operating rooms, a well equipped Laboratory department also X-ray department manned with experienced Radiographers.
The hospital serves as a referral point to most hospitals in the Western zone it is a complement to Bugando Hospital which is the official referral hospital for Lake zone.
